Texans QB CJ Stroud Favorite to Win 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

Houston Texans rookie QB CJ Stroud took less than one week to jump from the fifth favorite to the overwhelming favorite to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award (OROY) at BetMGM.

One week ago, Stroud was a 10-1 longshot to win the award, and we told you then to grab that price because it would be gone forever. Now, all the value of this future wager is gone because, barring injury, Stroud will be named the OROY.

Stroud has distanced himself from all the other rookies by throwing for the fourth most yards and 10th most scoring strikes among all NFL QBs. If that wasn’t enough, Stroud has 151 passing attempts without an interception, and the Texans are 2-2-0 with the highest points differential in the NFC South.

Robinson was the people’s choice since the 2023 NFL Draft. The Texas Longhorn alum has scampered for 318 yards without a TD but has hauled in 19 of 22 targets for 134 yards and one receiving TD for the 2-2 Falcons.

Nacua is still an interesting choice for OROY. He has the second-most receiving yards with nine plays of 20+ yards. Nacua hauled in eight of nine targets for 163 yards and one TD last weekend against Indianapolis, but we’ll see how many targets he receives once wideout Cooper Kupp returns from injury.

The bookies took early money on the Indianapolis rookie QB, but Richardson has fallen to the 4th favorite. He missed Week 3 with a concussion but returned to throw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs in the Colts’ OT loss to the Rams.

Achane is another intriguing option if something were to happen to Stroud. After sitting out for Week 1, the Texas A&M alum has rushed for 309 yards with four TDs and hauled in eight of his 10 targets for 53 yards with two receiving TDs.
