Week 12 Heisman Trophy Watch: A Whole Lotta Shaking Going On at BetMGM

We are entering the home stretch of the college football season, and Week 11 produced a flurry of activity on the BetMGM Heisman Trophy futures board.

Week 11 of the college football season was tumultuous for Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy and Florida State signal-caller Jordan Travis. Both fell from the top five and were replaced by Ohio State wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck.

Bo Nix

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is now the betting favorite to win the Heisman Award. The Oregon signal-caller threw for 412 yards with four scoring strikes and bested reigning Heisman Trophy winner and former Heisman frontrunner Caleb Williams 36-27. Nix has thrown the second-most scoring strikes nationally and has chucked two interceptions on 332 passing attempts this season.

Next Up: Nix and the No. 6 Oregon Ducks are at Arizona State this Saturday.

Michael Penix Jr.

Washington signal-caller Michael Penix Jr. continues to lose favor with the betting public after his second-consecutive contest with only two TD passes in the Huskies’ 35-28 home win over No. 18 Utah. Penix leads the nation in passing yards and leads one of the few remaining unbeaten teams in the country.

Next Up: Penix and the Huskies are at No. 12 ranked Oregon State.

Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ohio State wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. has finally cracked the top five on the BetMGM Heisman Trophy future board. The Buckeyes All-American hauled in a pair of scoring strikes and a rushing touchdown in Ohio State’s 38-3 home victory over Michigan State. Harrison has eight receiving touchdowns and one rushing TD over the past five games for the No. 1 ranked Buckeyes.

Next Up: Ohio State hosts Minnesota in their final tuneup before finishing their season at Michigan.

Jayden Daniels

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels remained in the top five after leading the Tigers to a 52-35 home victory over Florida. Daniels threw for 372 yards and three passing TDs and scampered for an additional 232 rushing yards and a pair of TDs. Daniels tops the nation in passing TDs and is third nationally in passing yards.

Next Up: Daniels and LSU host Georgia State in a Week 12 non-conference matchup.

Carson Beck

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is another new addition to our top five. Beck threw two scoring strikes in the Bulldogs 52-17 home victory over No. 9 Mississippi. Beck has thrown 11 touchdown passes over his previous five games for the unbeaten and two-time defending national champion Bulldogs.

Next Up: Georgia travels to Knoxville for an SEC matchup with No. 13 Tennessee this Saturday.
